Works of Art
There are those who in so many ways
Have brought delight to the world
Through music art and poetry
Words, paintings, sounds
Enrich our lives still today
Great painters of the Renaissance
In Italy were they
Masterpieces in vibrant colours
Resulting from their artistry
Have brought delight to the world
Through music art and poetry
Words, paintings, sounds
Enrich our lives still today
Great painters of the Renaissance
In Italy were they
Masterpieces in vibrant colours
Resulting from their artistry
Pre-Raphaelites
Pre-Raphaelites gathered in London
Rossetti, Burnes-Jones and Millais
Members of a Brotherhood
Painters and poets they
Their work stirred up a hornet's nest
So different in style and way
Their representing women
Beautiful objects came to be
Now for us to find and see
Words of Art
The ones who figured so carefully
How to place words in harmony
Sonnets telling of a time
When beauty walked the streets
As did so many things
Marlowe a one of words
Cut off before his time
In passageways of London town
No-one around to see
On the stage of the Globe
Shakespeare's plays did there appear
All a marvellous tale they told
Of love and hate and murderous ones
Long narrative poems he did write
Blending style in superb ways
Read and enjoyed in his time
As still they are today
How to place words in harmony
Sonnets telling of a time
When beauty walked the streets
As did so many things
Marlowe a one of words
Cut off before his time
In passageways of London town
No-one around to see
On the stage of the Globe
Shakespeare's plays did there appear
All a marvellous tale they told
Of love and hate and murderous ones
Long narrative poems he did write
Blending style in superb ways
Read and enjoyed in his time
As still they are today
A Mighty Power
Times have changed
Still are a'changing
In so many ways
Not always good
More often than not
Yet words are still a mighty power
To inspire
Images that through the ages
Shine their light upon our souls
Ways for all to go beyond
Reality of what the world presents
Take it upon yourself to see
The marvels come through history
Yet the most magnificent of all
Is who you Are
Not the bodily form
But your Soul
and so it is
Still are a'changing
In so many ways
Not always good
More often than not
Yet words are still a mighty power
To inspire
Images that through the ages
Shine their light upon our souls
Ways for all to go beyond
Reality of what the world presents
Take it upon yourself to see
The marvels come through history
Yet the most magnificent of all
Is who you Are
Not the bodily form
But your Soul
and so it is
