Around the Maypole
Shepherds and shepherdesses
Around the maypole dance merrily
Waiting for the moon to shine
In the heavens far above
Around the maypole dance merrily
Waiting for the moon to shine
In the heavens far above
Dancing they have been all day
Since when the golden rays of sun
Bathed them in warmth and joy
Round and round they keeping on
Never stopping
Tired not in any way
Lovely figures on display
Since when the golden rays of sun
Bathed them in warmth and joy
Round and round they keeping on
Never stopping
Tired not in any way
Lovely figures on display
Hooded Monks
Midnight bells
Their stentorious gong rings out
Chanting deep did commence
Band of hooded monks walked by
A dirge from parched lips was heard
Their dusty feet struck the hard ground
Hairless they were with eyes so dark
Many things witnessed and seen
On their onwards path
Some too terrible to recall
Inquisition ruled supreme
Heretics burned at the stake
Those who refused to take
The orders of the Holy Pope
Who now in state did lie
Brought down by disease
Through the land rampant did run
Their stentorious gong rings out
Chanting deep did commence
Band of hooded monks walked by
A dirge from parched lips was heard
Their dusty feet struck the hard ground
Hairless they were with eyes so dark
Many things witnessed and seen
On their onwards path
Some too terrible to recall
Inquisition ruled supreme
Heretics burned at the stake
Those who refused to take
The orders of the Holy Pope
Who now in state did lie
Brought down by disease
Through the land rampant did run
Venial All
In seedy poolrooms and derelict bars
Young men and women raucous and loud
Gathered there to drink and waste their life away
Products of the changing times
Cared they not a wit for man nor beast
Only for their own sick minds
Not knowing of anything but to enjoy themselves
Tawdry and venial all
Young men and women raucous and loud
Gathered there to drink and waste their life away
Products of the changing times
Cared they not a wit for man nor beast
Only for their own sick minds
Not knowing of anything but to enjoy themselves
Tawdry and venial all
Watch Blue Jasmine to see of whom I write
Pity and compassion we must have
For those who choose these ways to be
Karmic flows again to see
But children of God all are they
and so it is
