The Tree

ancient tree

I watch the tree it talks to me
Veins runs up and down its bark
Through which the sap of life
Doth seep

It tells me of its ancient age
Long before I walked this earth
Then it was young and fancy free
Green buds covering all


Sunbeams dappled through its leaves
Shades from gold to brown were weaved
The tree fairy spoke to me

And run your fingers through my hair
Touch my branches lovingly
Caress my trunk so gentely

Whisperings indiscernable to most
Yet so melodic were for me
Listened I with baited breath
For magic coming forth it be

The Arrival

Queen of Fairies

Memories of forgotten dreams
Distant now as they do seem
Filter through on gauzy wings
Waiting to be seen

Into the Kingdom of Trees She came
Queen of Fairies Tatiana named
Magic streaming through Her wand
Brought gasps of delight from everyone

Arriving in candle lit glen
On a chariot of hazel boughs
Drawn by teams of silver slugs
Across the greensward made their way
Coachman was a tiny elf
His whip of darkest grey
Circled with rings of purest white

Returned

Bottom his name

Alight did She upon the grass
Her tiny feet in silvery pumps
Made no impression none at all
Around Her elves and gnomes arrived
A magic kingdom such it was

Through the day and into night
All frolicked merrily
Even the donkey lost his head
When into love he fell

He brayed and shook his flowered mane
His antics so amused
The fairies gathered there to see
A man lost of identity

But with compassion soon the Queen
Returned it back to him
Up he leaped and danced and sang
Happy once again to be
Loving became his speciality

Seasons bring their special qualities. The killing of the deer's family in the forest and the punishment of Queen Mab for this. A warning to those who kill animals.

Seasons of the Witch

Seasons

I heard the buzz of busy bees
The mist came through thebudding trees
Spring was on its way

Flowers burst into colours bright
The land grew fruitful under blue skies
Summer had come

Leaves fluttered to the ground in shades of flame
The sun sank low on the horizon
Autumn had arrived

Rivers froze and trees were bare
Winter again had come

Death in the Forest

The antlered deer raised his great head
He sensed the nearness of the man
Great limpid eyes drooped to the ground
To see what lay ahead

Learned had he to read the prints of those who came to harm
His family they had all been killed by scavengers with hearts so cruel
No-one was left but him

He prowled the forest day and night to find another of his kin 
But none there were

The Queen's Proclamation

Magic in the forest

Now upon this dismal scene
A host of fairies did appear
Amongst them Mab herself the Queen
She came to see the goings on

the feathered paths her domain

No-one was allowed to defame
The precious places of the greensward
This Titania herself proclaimed

Cruelty of Man

The beloved deer

But man his greed knowing no bounds
In disregard of her words
Destroyed the trees and plants and ground
His ceaseless search for more he made
Killing the animals who dwelt therein
Both kith and kin

Mab came to him one dark and silent night
And bound him in chains of metal bright
Cut out his tongue
Put out his eyes
So never could he again
Destroy the magic of the woods

A warning let this be to all who would destroy what Mother Nature has created..
