The Night

animals of the nite...

Brave knights through wooded copses rode
Under the dome of star filled skies
All around the trees do sigh
The rain it pattereth down

Nocturnal animals venture forth
Awakened by the horses hooves
Deadened by mulched fallen leaves
But to their ears full of sound

Wolves eyes glint in dead of night
Owls wing through darkened trees
Undergrowth is thick and dense
Blocking the riders way

Day Comes

Man or beast hard to say

A sign they have been waiting for
Heralding the start of day

Across horizon sun peeps its fiery head
