It is always great to find restaurant serving delicious food...food that is healthy and authentic...take a trip with me to London and enjoy the succulent dishes of the Royal China Restaurant....

Here WE Go

When visiting London recently and wanting to try some of the vaunted restaurants there I was fortunate to find The Royal China Restaurantwhich together with its sister/brother Sun aptly called the Royal China Club hold a place of esteem on Baker Street quite close to the infamous 221b Baker Street where Sherlock Holmes dwelt in times gone by. I had been quite lucky in the weather and this day again I made my way under blue balmy skies looking forward to some good Chinese grub.
The Royal China Club has more of a genteel and rarified atmosphere almost as if overseen by a great Chinese master although this perhaps is what draws a certain element of people here to dine and wine. Great lit up tanks are home to many lobsters swimming around quite aimlessly waiting to be served in a tantalizing array of dishes. And the long bar would be a great place to sip cocktails whilst waiting to be seated.
My choice was to dine at the Royal China Restaurant definitely more homey but still beautifully decorated in the style and vibrant colours of China. It was before 4 pm when II arrived as I wanted to sample the Dim Sum which they are justifiably known for. Fried and steamed with diverse fillings around which a casing of soft white paper thin dough wrapped carefully is cooked and brought to the table with little pots of spicy sauces. It was hard to choose but the steamed prawns with coriander, chicken mushroom bun and minced pork with shrimp made my taste buds very happy.

Delicious Delightful Dishes

No Chinese restaurant of note would measure up if they did not serve noodles and rice prepared in many different ways on their own or accompanying some splendid mains like, sliced choice beef and vegetables, Shanghai style fried Udoni and spicy pickled vegetable and minced beef vermicelli to name a few.

Seafood in London is a must and RCR offers a large choice of fresh prawns, sea bass, Dover Sole and braised abalone cooked in a variety of ways my mouth is watering now in remembrance of seeing them being served at other tables especially when accompanied by sea cucumber!

Meats are another succulent choice from crispy Peking Duck, breaded pork chop, Mandarin Fillet Steak, tender Veal they all find a placement on the menu to be consumed by hungry sychopants of this delicious food.

Vegetarians are not forgotten nor given second place whilst Bean curd, crisped vegetable rolls and other stylized dishes of China can be ordered and brought to your table by helpful servers.

Wine Dine and so Much More

There is a wide wine and cocktail selection because we Brits love our booze and RCR rustles up some amazing cocktail mixes for you to enjoyChef Specials are also on the menu so you can try a number of dishesrecommended by the Chef himself.

I finished up this amazing repast with pan fried Red bean pastry and coconut cream pudding…oh oh oh…my tastebuds still savour them even in memory alone.

When next in London be sure to take a walk down Baker Street and treat yourself to lunch or dinner at the Royal Chinese Restaurantyou will be well pleased!

cnwriterStarred Page
One of the most charming and centrally located hotels in London is the Hyatt Regency, The Churchill. Named after Winston Churchill, this hotel offers superb comfort, fine facilities, restaurants and bars. A great venue to stay at be you on vacation or business.

The Neighbourhood of Portman Square

One of the most charming places to visit in London is the Marylebone area..home toSherlock Holmes on Baker Street and Wigmore Street where famous people through the ages have resided. Not too far away also are the residences where the Pre-Raphealite Brotherhood Burnes-Jones, William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais,Dante Gabriel Rossetti and others of that ilk were gathered.

Today you can walk through this amazing neighbourhood and see sights galore enjoy restaurants and buildings that take you back into a more gracious time.

One of my favourite places to stay whenever I visit this marvellous city ]is the Hyatt Regency Hotel, The Churchill. It has held a place of high esteem for many a year and for those lovers of Winston Churchill himself there is a dark and rapturously sublime bar inside the hotel where you can enjoy the best drinks, cigars and conversation.

Service par Excellence

The Hyatt Regency Churchill is conveniently located in the heart of London’s West End with views over the charming gardens of Portman Square ]and within walking distance of Oxford Street. Regent Street and Hyde Park. With its well-appointed guest rooms and suites, a gym and large meeting rooms, business and leisure travellers can be sure that their needs are always catered too.

The hotel has garnered many a review and restaurant award for the fabulous service offered. Seasonal and locally sourced dishes are served in The Montagu and award-winning Italian cuisine at Locanda Locatell a truly superb Italian ristorante. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable as they are hired on their ability to bring service par excellence in all areas of their expertise.

INTERNATIONAL ART FROM THE SAATCHI GALLERY

Known for the art exhibitions they present, recently a number of works were displayed honouring the Olympic Games. Art by Scottish artist Lucy McKenzie.a large-scale painting of gymnast Olga Korbut, South Korean artist Jin Myerson’s painting of a cycling race and Congolese artist Kura Shomali’s homage to Muhammad Ali. Other highlights of this exhibition included Black Grape, a two-metre high wave made out of silicon carbide by British artist Dick Evans and Claire Morgan’s sculpture When You Wish, made out of torn plastic bags and a Malaysian Moon moth, specially commissioned for the exhibition by the hotel.

Marvellous Offerings

Another most tempting exhibition[ was that to celebrate Queen Elizabeth 11 recent Jubilee. The works include the Queen wearing the Diamond Diadem worn by Her Majesty during the procession to her Coronation in 1953 amongst other fabulous pieces.

These are on view in the lounge area of this lovely hotel so do your self a favour, visit, stay and enjoy all the fabulous offerings of this wonderful hotel.
